Description

“Moon flowers” is a garden bouquet set against a large pale moon rising over the dark graphite field of the canvas. The mood is quiet and late-evening: the flowers glow while everything around them stays muted.

What the picture shows

The moon disc is filled with a soft gradient — pink and peach at the base, cool blue at the top — and the whole composition is built on it. A dense bouquet lies over it: a large pink peony with an open heart in the centre, blue and lilac rosettes beside it that look like houseleeks, small pink roses, blue hyacinth spikes and a scatter of pale blue florets. The green leaves are long and pointed; they radiate outwards and cross the edge of the moon circle. At the bottom the arrangement is anchored by small golden amber buds on thin stems. Twenty bead colours carry the shift from near-white pink to ink blue and emerald. The dark grey background and the moon itself stay as print on the canvas — beadwork covers only the flowers and leaves, so the bouquet stands out from the matte surface.
