Main Bead Embroidery Kit Grandma's House Rules
Description
“Grandma's House Rules” is a light-hearted list of house rules laid out like a chalkboard in a turquoise frame. A warm, domestic piece in which the lettering is the whole point.
What the picture shows
On a dark grey panel styled as a slate board sit a heading in a scrolled cartouche and a set of numbered rules drawn in chalk-coloured lettering: white, pink, yellow, pale blue and mint. Every line is stitched separately, letter by letter, so the text comes out raised and easy to read. Small doodles are scattered between the lines: hearts, a spoon and a whisk, a cup, biscuits, a fish, a bird, sprigs of flowers. A wide turquoise border runs around the edge and stays as print on the canvas. The palette is restrained, only thirteen bead colours, and that is exactly why the text reads so crisply. Six colours of Preciosa No. 13 microbeads go into the thinnest letters and the smallest icons. The composition is vertical and laid out like a poster: the heading at the top, then the lines of rules, which grow smaller towards the bottom. The doodles fill the free space on either side of the lines.
