Description

“Magic flowers” is a lavish bouquet in a pale blue bowl, with two golden cherubs holding a garland and a red heart above it. A colourful, slightly theatrical subject in the spirit of an antique postcard.

What the picture shows

At the centre are roses, peonies and irises in pink, coral, white and lilac, with dense gradients inside every petal — exactly what thirty-five bead colours are there for. The bouquet rests in a pale blue bowl, with single buds beside it. The background is deep blue, while the corners and edges are covered in gold craquelure, like an old gilded frame. Golden ornaments with emerald and ruby insets, close to antique brooches, are scattered around the border, and a silvery fan-shaped brooch lies among the flowers. The cherubs above and the gold ribbon are stitched in beads as well. Large Preciosa No. 6 beads, glass hemispheres and wave-shaped pieces act as precious stones in their settings. The composition is symmetrical: the garland with its cherubs above, the bouquet below, the jewelled ornaments in the corners.
