Description

“Golden Tropics” is a dense tropical pattern of monstera leaves, palm fans and ferns, arranged in a square. There are few colours here, but all of them are restrained and rich: gold, black and silver.

What the picture shows

The large monstera leaves are beaded in gold with clearly marked veins, and palm fans and long feathery fern fronds spread out beside them. Some of the foliage stays black and silver-grey, and that contrast is what holds the composition: the gold shapes come forward, the dark ones fall back. The leaves overlap in layers with almost no gaps, so the pattern reads like fabric or wallpaper. The dark olive-graphite background stays as print on the artist canvas and underlines the metallic sheen of the beads. The square format turns the design into a fragment of a larger pattern that seems to continue past the edge. Fine black strokes between the leaves read as shadow and give the pattern depth, though they are barely noticeable on their own.
