Description

“Herbs whisper” is a large white moon above a night field and tall grasses leaning in the wind. The subject is almost silent: there is nothing in it but sky, light and dry plumes.

What the picture shows

The sky is beaded in several shades of blue, dark towards the edges and lighter around the moon, while the moon itself is worked in white and silver beads as one solid circle with a faint texture. The grasses come in two layers: dark, nearly black silhouettes in front, and pale cream-gold plumes behind and to the sides. Every plume is beaded stem by stem in tiny beads, so it turns out soft and catches the light at different angles. More than fifteen thousand beads in only ten colours mean very dense coverage: what carries this piece is texture rather than palette. The moon takes up nearly a quarter of the sky, and its white disc is the only truly bright spot in all that blue.
