Main Bead Embroidery Kit Scarab beetle
Description
“Scarab beetle” places an Egyptian scarab with open wings on a deep black background. The composition is strictly symmetrical and reads like an old amulet: everything around the beetle is built along the central axis.
What the picture shows
The body is beaded in gold, ochre and cream, and the wings spread into two wide fans with amber and white shifts. Above the beetle sit a lotus flower and an arc that looks like a metal hoop; higher still, silvery white branches scatter like frost or coral. At the bottom a dense fringe of gold and copper beads runs downwards in rays. A few larger white beads and fine light dots around them give the feeling of star dust. The black background stays as print on the canvas, and it is exactly there that the beadwork glows hardest. The symmetry is complete: the left and right halves repeat each other, so while stitching it is easy to check rows against each other and spot a gap at once.
