Description

“Constellation Taurus” is a zodiac sign shown as a wireframe: the figure of a bull built from thin lines and nodal points on dark canvas.

What the picture shows

The bull is caught in movement, head lowered, with its characteristic curved horns. Its silhouette is not filled in — it is a mesh of straight lines stitched in pale metallised thread that meet at nodes and divide the figure into small triangles. Every node is marked with a bead: some blue, some silvery white, so tiny flashes appear at the intersections. Single pale beads are scattered across the whole canvas around the figure, standing for the stars of the night sky. The palette is as restrained as it gets: dark brown ground, silver thread and only two bead colours. The ground is left entirely unbeaded, and it is exactly this emptiness that makes the design look like a page from an astronomical chart. There are just enough lines to recognise the animal, yet the mesh stays transparent and the ground shows through everywhere.
