“Moon phases” in the white-background version: four phases of the moon set one under another on clean pale canvas. A minimal piece for a contemporary interior.

What the picture shows

The canvas is tall and stays white — the background is not beaded at all, and that is exactly what makes the composition so airy. Four shapes run from top to bottom: a thin crescent, a wider half, an almost full disc with a bite taken out of the edge, and finally a complete circle. Each is filled with mottled beads — deep navy and ink, cobalt, turquoise, violet — with pale pearl and sandy beige beads scattered between them like the glint of craters. The full circle shows a slightly lighter core with rays spreading from it. The beads sit densely inside each phase, so the moons look almost textured against the smooth white ground.
