Description

“Sunny pattern” is the mirror counterpart of the moon ornament: the same openwork manner, but in a hot red-and-gold palette with a solar rosette at its centre.

What the picture shows

At the heart of the composition sits an eight-pointed star of fine gold beads with a red core and a round crystal in the middle. Pointed petals with red and green inserts radiate out from it, each outlined in gold, and the outer ring forms a wreath of thin rays and dots. Below, the ornament ends in hanging strands of red beads with teardrop pendants and small rosettes at their tips; they swing freely and keep the lower edge of the work alive. The ground is dark graphite canvas left unbeaded, which is why the gold and red read so vividly against it. The design is drawn mostly in single bead lines, so the pattern stays graphic and crisp. Green inserts appear in only a few petals, so they read as separate gemstones set among the gold. The small drops and rosettes at the ends of the strands echo the shape of the central star.
