Description

“Moon pattern” is an openwork crescent laid out in beads on a deep dark ground. The piece is purely decorative: there is no scene here, only ornament, line and the play of shine.

What the picture shows

The composition is built on a large circle of lacy petals and scrolls with a broad crescent set inside it. The palette is silver and blue: steel metallic, cobalt, deep navy and a few amber inserts that act as small warm accents. The pattern is drawn in lines one bead wide, so the design stays fine and almost hand-drawn, close to henna work. Above and below, the ornament continues in loosely hanging bead strands with drops and faceted stones — they are not stitched down flat but swing above the canvas, giving the piece real depth. The dark canvas is left entirely unbeaded and serves as the ground on which the metallic beads glow most strongly. The finest microbeads follow the inner scrolls, while larger beads mark the nodal points of the ornament and hold its rhythm.
