Description

“Night flight” shows a grey eagle owl flying against a huge golden moon, low over the rocks.

What the picture shows

The bird is given in profile in mid wingbeat: one wing raised, the other stretched forward, the clawed feet tucked in. The plumage is worked in white, grey, graphite and black beads laid in short rows, so the feather texture reads clearly; the one warm spot on the bird is its orange eye. To the right and slightly above hangs a full moon, densely stitched in golden, ochre and honey beads with darker crater patches. A ridge of rocks and cloud runs along the bottom in grey and silver. The background stays as dark grey print with no detail, so the silhouette of the bird and the disc of the moon carry the whole composition.
