Description

“Venice” is the silhouette of the Santa Maria della Salute basilica against a night sky, drawn in silver beads over a deep blue ground.

What the picture shows

The church is given as an outline: the beads follow the lines of the domes, columns, arches and bell tower without filling the surfaces. That is why the building reads as light drawing above water. At the upper left there is a large round moon, beaded solid — the only dense patch in the composition. The sky is painted in shifts from turquoise to violet and deep blue, with six-pointed stars scattered across it like snowflakes. At the bottom the reflection of the church trembles in the canal, also laid in short bead strokes. The kit holds only two bead colours, and the whole effect rests on that: silver against darkness, with no extra shade.
