Description

“Kittens' purrings” shows two stylised cats sitting side by side against a dark background, with three hearts rising above them. The mood is light and warm — a story about a pair told almost without detail, by silhouettes alone.

What the picture shows

The cat shapes are filled with shifting pink, lilac, turquoise, grass green and sunny yellow that flow into one another like stained glass. The cat on the right is larger, with sharp ears and a long tail curled into a spiral; the one on the left sits lower and looks aside. The three hearts above them use the same rainbow range, from the smallest to the largest. The graphite background stays as print on the canvas, scattered with single pale star-like beads that suggest a night sky. Beadwork covers the silhouettes, the hearts and the stars, which is exactly why the colour glows against the matte dark.
