Description

“Sign of strength” places a tiger's face at the centre of a large circular mandala. It is a symmetrical decorative composition in which the warm gold of the animal meets the cool silver of the ornament.

What the picture shows

The tiger faces the viewer directly: orange-gold fur with black stripes, white cheeks and chin, a focused gaze and a clearly drawn dark nose. On its forehead sits a pale crescent mark with a round inset inside it. The mandala unfolds around the head — pointed petals, openwork scrolls and small ornamental insets in grey, silver and pale blue, with a light blue rim of fine beads running around the whole circle. Round orange decorative glass insets are set at several points of the ornament. The background is an even dark graphite tone that stays as print on the artist canvas and gives the ornament room to breathe.
