Description

“Golden lion” shows a lion in motion, drawn in golden lines on a dark ground. Instead of a solid body there is a light framework of outlines, sparks and a windblown mane.

What the picture shows

The lion walks from left to right, head lowered and legs tensed. The body is described by thin lines of beads in gold, orange, copper and bronze; inside the outline the canvas stays dark, so the figure looks almost transparent. The mane breaks into long wavy strands that stream far back and dissolve into a scatter of sparks above the spine. Behind the animal a silvery cloud glows faintly, worked in cool pale beads. The background is an even dark grey with no detail, and against it the warm lines read especially clearly. Decorative glass in several shapes adds raised highlights at chosen points of the mane and the outline.
