Description

“The Golden” shows a horse's head built from a scattering of beads straight onto a blue ground. The subject is minimal: the outline is barely drawn, and the figure seems to hang in mid-air.

What the picture shows

The horse is seen in profile, head raised, ears pricked, mane blown back. The muzzle is worked in pale tones — white, silver and pearl — while the mane and neck shift into warm shades of gold, bronze, copper and ochre. Towards the right the beads thin out and break into separate dots, so the figure appears to dissolve into movement, and a light trail runs down from the neck as well. The background is an even, saturated blue canvas with no printed image: it stays open, and it is exactly that emptiness which makes the silhouette read. There is not much beadwork here and the pattern is simple, so the kit suits a first project.
