Description

“Meeting in the cafe” shows two doll-like children who have met outside the window of a small pastry shop. It is a warm children's scene in pink and grey, put together from a great many small details.

What the picture shows

On the left stands a boy in a grey knitted hat with a pompom, a red jumper with snowflakes, blue trousers and boots, a dark satchel over his shoulder. On the right is a girl in a tall pink hat, a fluffy pink dress and grey boots, with long fair hair. Between them is the shop front with its LES PETITS GATEAUX sign, a striped pink and white awning and cakes on the shelves. Above there is a window with blue shutters and a flower box, and on the right a street lamp and a topiary in a pot. The white brick wall and the cobbled pavement stay as print on the artist canvas, while the beadwork does its job on the figures, the awning and the display.
