Description

“On the way to the dream” shows a white-haired girl wearing a wreath of red roses, with golden birds taking flight around her. The subject is romantic and graphic at once: a cool blue ground and three accents — red, white and gold.

What the picture shows

The figure is seen in profile, head bowed and eyes closed. Her long, almost silver hair is stitched in pale beads with a pearl sheen, and single strands scatter across the canvas in thin lines. Large red roses with dark centres open in her hair, on her shoulder and across her dress, worked in several shades of red and burgundy. The dress is black, with a lace pattern and small decorative circles along the lower edge. Birds fly around her with outspread golden wings, filled in dense rows of beads. The blue-turquoise background with its white washes and tiny stars stays as print on the artist canvas.
