Description

“Night dance” shows several jellyfish rising slowly through dark water. The subject is soft and slightly cosmic: bell after bell, long trailing tentacles and small bubbles all around.

What the picture shows

A large violet and lilac jellyfish drifts at the top, its bell stitched in silver and turquoise, with a second one below it in blue, trailing long ribbons of tentacles across the canvas. The brightest of them opens in the lower right: red and pink, with a white fringe along the rim of the bell and a warm orange core inside. Smaller jellyfish in turquoise and blue are scattered on the left and in the corners. The background is deep, almost night blue, dotted with small pale bubbles, and some tentacles reach beyond the dark rectangle onto the light field of the canvas — a device that adds depth and movement to the composition.
