Main Bead Embroidery Kit Protectors of the East
Description
“Protectors of the East” shows two white tigers sitting face to face, with a dark strip of night sky and a young moon rising between them. The subject is symbolic and cool in colour, almost totemic in the way it is built.
What the picture shows
The tigers are turned inwards and nearly touch noses; their fur is white with blue shadows and black stripes, their eyes pale turquoise, their paws heavy and wide. Behind each of them spreads a glow worked in wavy lines of blue, turquoise, white and gold beads, much like the northern lights. A vertical band of deep blue sky with a crescent moon and small stars runs through the centre. At the bottom the composition seems to drip away in coloured runs of blue, green and gold. The white margins at the sides stay bare canvas, so the animal silhouettes read sharply and without visual noise.
