Description

“Flir” shows a couple under a single umbrella on an avenue drowning in cherry blossom. It is a quiet romantic scene where pink fills almost the entire frame and everything else stays in a soft haze.

What the picture shows

A large cherry branch holds the composition from the right and above: blossoms from white and pale pink to deep crimson, dark winding branches, and single petals falling down. Further back there is a pink shimmer of other trees and a light morning mist. Two figures in dark coats stand with their backs to the viewer on a wet path that reflects the light, and the pale blue umbrella stays the only cool note in a warm palette. Beadwork covers mainly the blossom, the umbrella and the highlights on the wet ground, while the misty depth of the avenue stays as print on the artist canvas, which makes the foreground read even more strongly.
