Description

“Dream of the fox” is a fairy-tale garden with a tree, owls and a fox asleep at the trunk. The subject is childlike and packed with detail — there is always something new to find in it.

What the picture shows

At the centre of the pale blue canvas grows a tree with a deep violet and blue crown strewn with tiny flowers in every colour — pink, yellow, red, turquoise — and hearts instead of fruit. Two owls sit in the branches, a larger one high up and another below, both with round eyes and striped chests. Under the trunk a red fox with a white tail tip sleeps curled into a ball. Around it bushes bloom, blue and green stems stick up, a small violet tree stands to the left, a tipped-over chest lies to the right and a red toadstool grows nearby; birds and butterflies flit through the air and white flower rings are scattered above. All the coloured part is stitched in beads, with large beads used as accents, while the pale sky stays as print on the canvas.
