Main Bead Embroidery Kit The fourth spacing
Description
“The fourth spacing” shows a leaping orca whose body is filled with a starry sky. The subject is frankly fantastical: the animal seems to be jumping out of another space rather than out of the sea.
What the picture shows
The orca runs diagonally across the canvas, head down, and takes up almost its full height. Its back is stitched in a dense mix of violet, blue, turquoise and pink beads with scattered bright dots, which reads as a genuine cosmic nebula; the belly, the saddle patch behind the fin and the spot near the eye stay white. Mirror rhinestones are set along the spine, catching the light and reading like sharp shards of ice. A grey geometric net of thin triangles spreads across the upper corner, and another one shows faintly through the tail. Sprays of dark beads scatter around the figure. The background is pale blue-and-white watercolour and stays as print, so all the weight of colour sits on the whale itself.
