Description

“Family tree” is a stylised tree with multicoloured foliage and oval frames for family photographs. Unlike the realistic version, this one is built entirely on colour.

What the picture shows

The canvas is vertical. Trunk and branches are laid in dotted beadwork that shifts from violet and blue into turquoise and green. The leaves are small and drop-shaped — red, orange, yellow, lime, pale blue, lilac — spread through the whole crown, so each side of the tree has its own colour temperature. The roots are beaded and coloured too, cutting into a green-turquoise band of ground below. The background is a rainbow watercolour wash with splatters, running from pink to blue, and it stays as print on the canvas. Fifteen oval frames sit on the branches and under the tree, ready for family photos.
