Description

“Genealogical tree” is a broad green oak with empty oval lockets hanging from its branches, each waiting for a family photograph.

What the picture shows

The canvas is horizontal. At its centre stands a heavy tree with a thick trunk and roots spreading through the grass; the crown is dense, beaded in several greens, from deep emerald in the shadows to lime and golden yellow where the light comes through. The background is pale blue sky with light clouds and a strip of field below, and it stays as print on the canvas. Fifteen oval lockets in gold-toned settings are arranged on the branches and near the trunk in tiers — older generations lower, younger ones higher. The kit includes decorative blanks for these lockets, so real family photographs go into the finished piece.
