Main Bead Embroidery Kit Non-existent constellation map
Description
“Non-existent constellation map” is an invented star chart in turquoise and emerald, where a whale, a phoenix, a lantern and a goldfish shine instead of the usual constellations.
What the picture shows
The horizontal canvas looks like a sheet from an old atlas, with worn, uneven edges. The ground is a deep blue-green watercolour wash scattered with white stars joined by thin lines. The constellation figures are beaded: a large whale whose tail crosses the lower half, a phoenix with spread wings, a hanging lantern, a tipped-over jug, a hat, a paw, an eye, a small snake and a sphinx. Each carries a hand-written caption, and an unrolled scroll with the map’s title sits in the top right corner. The palette holds to turquoise, mint, dark blue and silver; the highlights are worked in the finest beads, so the stars really do flicker.
