Main Bead Embroidery Kit Sepia drawing
Description
“Sepia drawing” is a graphic bouquet in a restrained palette: black, white, brown and warm copper on a cream ground.
What the picture shows
The composition is built from large stylised flowers and long pointed leaves that fan out in every direction like a burst. The petals and leaves carry a striped, almost zebra-like pattern, a light band alternating with a dark one, and it is this rhythm rather than colour that holds the whole design together. The centre is lighter — white and silver petals, with a large bloom of pink and copper veining below and dark, nearly black leaves with white hatching at the edges. The background is cream with a faint paper texture and stays as print on the canvas. Microbeads in two colours give the fine veining and the soft transitions inside the petals that ordinary beads cannot render. There are only fifteen bead colours and nearly all of them are neutral, so the piece reads more as graphic art than as a flower still life. Because of the striped pattern the shapes are not obvious at first — the eye takes in the rhythm before it recognises the bouquet.
