Description

“Horseshoe for good luck” is a charm in dreamcatcher style: a silver horseshoe set with turquoise stones and a bundle of coloured feathers hanging beneath it.

What the picture shows

The horseshoe hangs with its ends up, its rim outlined in small pale beads and round turquoise stones spaced evenly along the arc. A bunch of feathers is tied below it on coloured cords: long feathers in red, blue and ochre shifts in the centre, pink, turquoise and green ones to either side, and two more short feathers perched on the tips of the shoe itself. The background is a light blue sky with soft cloudy washes. Beadwork covers the horseshoe, the stones, the cords and every feather, while the background stays as print on the canvas, so the charm seems to hang in mid-air. This is the smallest kit in the batch by bead count and the easiest in level. The palette is double: cool silver and turquoise above, warm feathers below, with the blue sky holding both parts together. The stitches in the feathers run along the shaft, so each one keeps a light, airy look.
