Description

“Life is beautiful” is a chalkboard picture with three cacti and a line saying that life is like a cactus: thorny, but beautiful.

What the picture shows

The background is flat black, like a school blackboard, and the words Life is like a cactus: thorny but beautiful are drawn in white “chalk” — block letters alternate with script, beautiful is underlined with a flourish, and a thin pink ribbon curls away from it. Three grey tin pots stand along the bottom. On the left is a tall columnar cactus with pale spines, in the middle a round barrel cactus in green stripes with a pink bloom on top, and on the right the tallest one, dark green, with a bright red flower on its side. Beadwork covers the plants, the pots and every letter, so the text glows against the black exactly like real chalk. The blackboard stays as print on the canvas, and that contrast is what keeps the design graphic. The palette is restrained — green, grey, white and two shades of pink, fifteen bead colours in all.
