Description

“Noble deer” is a decorative portrait of a stag whose antlers grow into a bouquet of flowers, leaves and curls instead of ordinary points. The mood is festive and a little like a fairy tale.

What the picture shows

The animal's coat is built from small ornaments: pink and lilac flowers on the chest, ochre and turquoise scales along the neck, blue curls around the eye. The antlers branch upward and turn into stems carrying orange poppies, blue berries and green and red foliage. The background is pale and soft, washed in sky blue and mint, and scattered across it are little multicoloured fir trees and drops — red, green, blue, pink. Beadwork covers the deer, the antlers and those small shapes, while the background stays as print, so the silhouette reads very clearly. The deer looks off to the side with its head slightly raised, which makes the pose calm and confident. Thirty bead colours let every patch of ornament keep its own shade. The little fir trees in the background are tiny but numerous, and they hold the rhythm of the whole canvas.
