Description

“Exactly” shows a glass carafe with spring already blooming inside it while winter still holds on beyond the glass. The title is about that very moment when warmth is about to arrive.

What the picture shows

Inside the round-bellied bottle with a dark cork grows a flowering tree: pink blossom, thin brown branches, a strip of green grass and small flowers at the roots. Outside, the glass is covered in frost, icicles hang from above, and pale blue snowflake patterns drift through the air. On the wooden wall to the left hangs a sun with a clock face; to the right sits a moth with beige and brown wings. Along the bottom, dark carved leaves and ivy tendrils are stitched in bronze and green. The grey-green wall and the window stay as print, while beadwork takes the blossom, the glass, the frost and the plants. The composition runs on contrast: a warm pink core inside the glass and cold blue-grey all around it. The fine microbeads in the kit go into the smallest details — the snowflakes, the frost and the blossom. The cork and the neck of the bottle are stitched in dark beads with a metallic sheen.
