Description

“Seasons” brings all four seasons into one square: autumn, summer, spring and winter meet around a pale opening with an evening sky. The subject reads in a circle, like a calendar.

What the picture shows

Autumn holds the left side: rust and ochre foliage, a wooden house with warm yellow windows, pumpkins by the wall. Summer is at the top — a dense green canopy with a little birdhouse window and blue shutters. Spring takes the right: a tree in pink and lilac blossom, another window in a yellow frame, warm orange flowers beneath it. Winter closes the bottom — a snowy slope, a dark cabin lit from inside, blue frosted trees, a snowman and a low picket fence. In the middle everything parts to reveal a pale sky with pink and yellow clouds. Beads cover the leaves, the houses, the flowers and the snow, while the sky in the opening stays as painting on the canvas, and that contrast is exactly what makes the centre glow.
