Description

“Spring came” is a cheerful welcome panel: a generous flower wreath set between the word welcome at the top and SPRING! along the bottom. It carries the mood of hanging the first spring decoration on the front door.

What the picture shows

The wreath is built from garden and meadow flowers — orange and yellow sunflowers and marigolds, red poppies, pink and white blossoms, deep burgundy centres — all resting on dense green needles. A turquoise-and-blue ribbon ties the top in a wide bow, and orange monarch butterflies settle around the ring; one more monarch and a small blue butterfly flutter below, outside the wreath. The background is a soft pink wash, and the bottom band is painted in blue-green stripes like a board fence. Beadwork covers the wreath, the butterflies, both words and the striped band, and that is where the shine sits. The pink field and the fine rays around it stay as print on the canvas, so the piece never looks overloaded.
