Description

“Two elements” shows two wings meeting in the centre of the canvas: one warm and golden-copper, the other cold blue and violet. The subject is conventional, almost abstract, and rests on the play between two opposite colour worlds.

What the picture shows

A fiery wing opens across the top, its copper, amber and gold feathers laid in tight rows that curl into a spiral. A second wing rises towards it from below in blue, turquoise and violet, with long pointed plumes. Where the two meet, scrolls form with pearl drops inside them, like frozen spray. Peacock feathers with eye markings appear on the left and right, and a dark red panel set with red stones lies in the lower right. The background is pink and lilac wings painted in soft gradients; they stay as print on the canvas, while the beads take the central feathers, the scrolls and the gems, which is why those glow the brightest.
