Description

“Tree of love” is a broad tree whose crown is covered with red hearts instead of leaves. It grows in the middle of a snowy field, and the warm red mass sits against cold blue snow.

What the picture shows

The crown takes up almost the entire horizontal canvas: hearts of different sizes hang from the branches in dense clusters, from bright red and crimson to deep cherry. Small white, pale blue and pink blossoms show between them, along with green leaves and thin twigs. A trunk with deeply furrowed bark rises on the right side of the picture, and a second, slimmer one stands to the left. Snow lies below, drawn in blue waves, with yellow and white early flowers pushing through it. The sky is pale and faintly frosty. Beadwork covers the hearts, the flowers, the leaves and the bark, while the snowfield and the sky largely stay as print on the canvas, which makes the crown look especially full.
