Description

“Welcome” is a bouquet of meadow flowers in a glass jar, drawn as if it had been chalked onto a blackboard. The word Welcome glows in large white letters across the top.

What the picture shows

The background is dark, almost charcoal, with faint chalky smudges, and against it everything worked in beads reads especially clearly. A jar stands in the centre, outlined in white and silver beads, with Home written on its side. Out of it grows a dense bouquet: a large purple gerbera, a crimson thin-petalled flower on the right, orange blossoms on the left, small white and amber stars and pale blue forget-me-nots around the edges. Green leaves fan out between them in sharp points. Chalk flourishes curl on either side of the jar, with pink swashes below. The beadwork covers the lettering, the jar, the flowers and the leaves, while the dark board with its smudges stays as print on the canvas.
