Description

“Spring tree of life” is the spring version of the well-known tree motif whose branches curl into large spirals. The whole tree is stitched in lilac and violet beads over a pastel background that shifts between mint, pink and pale yellow.

What the picture shows

The trunk rises from below and immediately splits into dozens of curls that fill the entire narrow vertical canvas. Small ornaments are scattered along the branches: black-and-white rectangles, dark-centred eye shapes, little triangles and golden discs. A black long-tailed bird perches on a branch to the right, and a pale patterned figure can be made out beside the trunk. A strip of flowering meadow runs along the bottom, made of small blue, yellow and crimson dots. The beadwork covers the tree, the ornaments on its branches, the bird and the meadow below, while the soft watercolour background stays as print, so the spirals read like lace laid over coloured haze.
