Description

“For spring” shows two deer in mid-leap across a snowy slope where winter is already giving way to the first warm colours. The whole picture is decorative, almost mosaic-like: both the animals and the landscape are built from circles, suns, diamonds and small ornament.

What the picture shows

The deer fly from left to right, their bodies filled with lilac, blue, terracotta and gold patterns with large sun discs on the flanks, while thin branching lines form the antlers. Behind them stand bare trees with orange crowns, a dark spruce on the left and pink-lilac hills along the horizon. The bottom edge is a bright carpet of small blossoms and coloured patches, and on the right the snow is drawn as long white waves. Beadwork covers the deer, the tree trunks and the flowering strip below, while the soft sky and the snowy slope stay as print on the canvas. That is exactly why the stitched areas step forward and carry the composition.
