Description

“Metrics” is a baby birth record shaped as a hot-air balloon carrying lion cubs and a baby elephant in its basket. The design is built from clouds, stars and small animals, with the birth details set among them.

What the picture shows

A balloon of red-and-white striped fabric rises at the centre, and two lion cubs and a grey baby elephant sit in the woven basket. The name is stitched on the cloud above the balloon, the weight appears on the basket itself, a ribbon banner with the date of birth unfurls below, and the side clouds carry the time and the length. Yellow stars, bunting flags, small droplets and white specks like snow are scattered all around. Animals sit in the corners: a violet owl, a ginger owl, a fox cub and two bunnies with pink ears. The turquoise background with its soft pale centre stays as print on the canvas, while the balloon, the animals, the clouds and all the lettering are stitched in beads.
