Main Bead Embroidery Kit Underwater dance
Description
“Underwater dance” shows three jellyfish drifting through turquoise water, patterned so densely they look like stained glass. The subject is fantastical and decorative, with a sense of slow movement.
What the picture shows
The largest jellyfish is at the top: a golden dome with green, red and white ornament, a pink-red core beneath it and long tentacles trailing down. Two more float below and to either side, in blue-violet and orange-ochre tones, with mottled bells and wavy ribbons of tentacles. The whole body of water is sown with small bubbles and pale dots, each picked out as a single bead. The background is saturated turquoise deepening into darker water; it stays as print on the canvas, while the jellyfish are beaded, which is what makes them look like backlit glass. The bells are beaded in rows along the curve and the tentacles in long bending lines, so the texture of the stitching repeats the motion in the water. Bubbles are scattered over the whole canvas as single beads of varying size and tone, and the range holds to turquoise, gold, blue and red.
