Description

“New Year`s Miracle” shows a Yorkshire terrier puppy in a red hat sitting in the snow beside a boot full of presents. A small, very cosy winter scene.

What the picture shows

The puppy holds the centre: silky golden-red fur, dark eyes, a red hat with a pale blue knitted band. It carries a string of pearls in its teeth, running back to the red boot on the left. The boot is decorated with a white snowflake pattern and a reindeer figure, and out of it peek a blue-and-white parcel, a box with a bow, a spruce sprig and red berries. Thick snow falls all around, each flake picked out as a separate bead. The cool blue-grey background stays as print, which is why the warm fur and the red accents glow against it. The composition runs on a diagonal, from the boot at the lower left to the tip of the hat at the upper right. The finest work goes into the fur: it is stitched in short rows following the direction of the hair, so the ears and the topknot come out noticeably shaggy.
