Description

“Raccoons” shows two raccoons painted in bright colour on an abstract ground of pink, yellow and violet waves. The piece is playful and richly coloured, with no dark corner anywhere.

What the picture shows

One animal sits upright with its paws folded on its chest; the other lies in front, front paws stretched out with clear long fingers. The familiar raccoon masks are kept: dark patches around the eyes and pale bands across the muzzle. The fur is broken into coloured strands — blue and violet along the back, green and yellow on the sides, pink and orange on the chest, white and turquoise at the tips. The eyes are large and attentive, with blue highlights. The background is made of broad colour fields: violet and pink above, yellow and orange below. Beads cover both raccoons, while the smooth colour ground stays as print, so the fluffy outlines read especially softly. The poses are relaxed, as if the pair had been caught in the middle of a game.
