Description

“Color magic” is a decorative flower bouquet in a bright folk-art manner, with butterflies and dragonflies among the petals. The piece is festive and built on clean saturated colour.

What the picture shows

At the centre a large peony opens with cream-white petals and a warm orange heart. Around it are stylised gerberas and zinnias in terracotta, red and pink, each with clearly drawn petals and a punched pattern running around the core. The leaves are large and decorative: emerald green with turquoise veins, a blue outline and a dotted ornament inside. Two butterflies and two dragonflies with patterned wings move across the canvas. The background shifts from yellow-green at the bottom to lilac, blue and violet above. Beads cover the flowers, leaves and insects, while the changing background stays as print on the artist canvas, which keeps the patterns especially readable. There is no symmetry: the flowers are scattered freely and the composition reads as one continuous floral carpet.
