Description

“Gift magician” shows a single large peacock feather filling the whole canvas: turquoise and blue on one side, blazing red, orange and pink on the other.

What the picture shows

The shaft runs diagonally and the barbs spread out in long wavy strands. The dark eye sits at the top — an emerald oval with a blue-black core. The right half stays in a cool range, from deep ultramarine through turquoise to mint, while the left shifts into a warm rainbow of crimson, orange and yellow. The background is far from empty: blue spirals wind across it, along with scattered dots, circles and small speckles. The piece is beaded almost solidly — both the feather and the patterned ground — so the surface comes out dense and plays strongly in the light, changing shade with the angle of view. The eye of the feather is set high and to the right, so the main mass of colour stays at the lower left.
