Main Bead Embroidery Kit Magic gramophone
Description
“Magic gramophone” shows an old gramophone whose horn opens not into music but into a peacock tail of green feathers and yellow flowers.
What the picture shows
A gramophone stands at the centre of the square canvas, its cabinet violet and lilac, its tone arm gold; the horn spreads into a wide fan of emerald feathers with blue and orange eyes. Small yellow flowers are scattered among the plumes and spill down below the cabinet. The background is dark, close to night, and a broad ornamental border of pale blue and deep blue scrolls, droplets and small flowers runs around the edge in an oriental spirit. Beadwork covers the gramophone, the peacock tail, the flowers and the entire border, while the dark ground stays as print on the artist canvas, which is exactly why the cool blues glow so strongly against it. The composition is close to symmetrical: the fan of feathers opens at the centre, and the ornamental border echoes its curves on all four sides.
