Description

“Latte” is a cat portrait in profile assembled from ornamental curls: instead of fur there are pearl-white and golden spirals, and one large blue eye looking out from among them.

What the picture shows

The head is turned in profile and built from long curving lines: whiskers and fur run in strands, the ear and cheek fill with spirals and small ringlets, and the nose is left a warm coral. The eye is the brightest point of the piece — a blue iris with a dark vertical pupil and a white highlight. A circle of light with radiating beams opens behind the cat, and the background shifts from coffee brown to milky gold, exactly the shade the title names. The palette is deliberately restrained, only eight bead colours, and all the glow rests on shifts of white, pearl and gold. Beadwork covers the cat and the halo of light, while the soft brown rays of the background stay as print on the canvas.
