Description

“Cute naughty” is a long horizontal picture of a dachshund in a multicoloured striped jumper: the dog has settled down beside its ball, with a handwritten “lovely dog…” drifting above it.

What the picture shows

The hero is a ginger dachshund with a dark brown muzzle, long ears and one round, surprised eye. Its jumper is made of dense vertical stripes — red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise and blue — and it is the brightest part of the whole piece. The paws wear red-and-white striped socks, and a green-and-yellow striped ball lies to one side. The background is pale, almost cream, with soft green and grey watercolour washes and black flower-shaped paw prints in the corners. Beadwork covers the dog, the jumper, the socks, the ball and those paw prints, while the watercolour washes and the handwritten words stay as print, so the dog stands clearly forward and reads from across the room. The tail stretches along the lower edge of the canvas and one long ear hangs softly down — a relaxed, instantly recognisable pose.
