Description

“Fluffy fog” shows a blue house with lit windows among thick billows of white mist, under an orange evening sky. In the piece the fog curls into the shape of a large fluffy animal settled around the house.

What the picture shows

The house stands at the centre: three storeys, blue-violet walls, dark red roofs, a tower with tall windows and a chimney. Yellow light burns in the windows, picked out in single warm beads. White billows rise all around it, worked in dense rows of white, grey and pale blue beads with cream and beige scrolls, and in their outline a curved back, an ear and a muzzle with an orange patch can be read. The sky above is orange and rust, with bare black trees and one tree in red foliage on the right; white dots are scattered across it like snowflakes. The bottom of the canvas is dark, almost black. The sky stays mostly as print, while beads carry the house, the fog and the crowns of the trees. The billows of mist are the most densely covered area: long curved rows follow the shape of each wave, and it is that texture which gives the impression of soft fur.
