“Autumn bunch of flowers” is a yellow bouquet of chrysanthemums and autumn branches in a round glass vase, with pumpkins, apples and a pear laid out beside it on a plank table. A quiet still life about a bright October day on a veranda.

What the picture shows

The bouquet is built from small yellow and ochre chrysanthemums, maple and oak leaves, thin twigs with dried foliage and a few clusters of red berries. The vase is round, made of dark glass with a wide neck through which the water and the stems are visible. On the table lie two orange pumpkins, a green and a yellow apple, a pear and a dark plum, with loose leaves scattered around them. The background is pale, almost bleached: a white garden chair and the veranda railing barely show through the haze. Beads cover the flowers, leaves, fruit and vase, while the background and part of the tabletop stay as print, which makes the bouquet look dense and warm against that airy light ground. A few small blue flowers appear in the bottom left corner.
