Description

“Dream way” is a sailing ship travelling over curling waves beneath a large mandala sun. The whole thing is done in a naive mosaic manner, from small dots and circles of colour.

What the picture shows

The canvas is horizontal and the composition rests on two main shapes. At the top centre is the round mandala sun: concentric rings of red, orange, yellow and green with fine pattern inside. Below it sails a three-masted ship in full sail, worked in blue, emerald, turquoise and violet beads, with coloured pennants on the masts. Waves curl underneath — dark blue and green spirals dotted with white. Two hot-air balloons drift on the left, a white bird flies beside them, and small rosettes, circles and flowers are scattered across the whole field. The light background between the motifs stays as print on the canvas, which keeps all that colour from collapsing into one mass.
